Argentina superstar Lionel Messi scored the first goal of the day in the team’s victory, Messi’s 702nd goal in European club football.

Messi also set a similar record by scoring in the match against Nice in the League One match. And to make that record, he did not break anyone’s record, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner broke the record of his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi and Ronaldo were equal goal scorers in Europe’s top league with the 701st goal so far. Messi now owns the highest goal in the history of Europe’s top five leagues, surpassing Ronaldo by scoring the 702nd goal.
After his debut in 2005, Messi scored 672 goals in the Barcelona jersey. He also scored 30 goals in PSG jersey. In total, he had to play 841 matches in 18 years to score 702 goals. On the other hand, Ronaldo had to play 949 matches to score 701 goals.
Meanwhile, rumors of Messi leaving PSG are getting stronger. The contract with PSG will expire on June 30 of this year. If he does not sign a new contract, he will be able to change clubs without a transfer fee as a free agent on July 1.
