FIFA Men’s Player of the Year Award Shortlist Revealed. FIFA, world football’s governing body, initially nominated 12 people for the Player of the Year award. Three people have been shortlisted from there. Lionel Messi joins Arling Holland and Kylian Mbappe in the race for the best footballer in the list released on Thursday (December 14).

FIFA’s Player of the Year award will be based on performance from the Qatar World Cup final to August 20 this year. The name of the winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on January 15 next year.

FIFA football experts first released a preliminary list of 12 players to select the best players. The number was reduced from 12 to 3 by voting. Coaches, captains, football journalists and supporters of various national teams voted there.

After winning the World Cup in Qatar, Messi played an outstanding role in helping French club PSG win the league last season. He had the highest assists in League One. At the end of the season, Messi left PSG and joined the American club Inter Miami. Won the title there. Messi also played great for the national team within the time limit set by FIFA.

Messi has won FIFA’s best player of the year award five times. Last year, this award also went to the Argentinian star. But this time, the fight may be a bit difficult.

Holland played a big role in Man City’s treble win last season. The Norwegian star broke record after record by scoring a total of 52 goals. He could not be Messi’s biggest rival in this year’s player of the year race.

Like Messi, Mbappe also played a role in PSG winning the title. The forward scored 17 goals in the last 20 matches in League One. At the end of the season he won the top scorer as well as the best player award in League One. He was in great form throughout the season. The award can be in his hands.
