40-year-old Rebecca will referee Fulham’s match against Burnley in the Premier League on December 23. The league authorities announced the matter in a statement on Thursday (December 14).
Earlier this year, Rebecca became the first female referee to officiate a boys’ Championship (the second tier of English football) match. Meanwhile, Sam Allison is going to officiate a Premier League match as the first black referee in 15 years. He will be the referee in the match between Sheffield United and Fulham on December 26.

Uriah Rennie was the last black referee in England’s top league. He retired from refereeing in the top four tiers of English football in 2009.
