But despite losing the final, Jabi is proud of his team. Even though the treble dream was broken, the Leverkusen coach reminded once again what the German club has done this season.
Jabi said, ‘The first defeat in the 52nd match is not normal. What we have achieved is exceptional and should be proud of. It feels bad though. It can happen. That’s football. The day was not ours. They were comparatively better.’
Leverkusen took home the Bundesliga title, becoming the first unbeaten club in Europe, if not in a few days. If they win the final of the German Cup next Sunday (May 26), Jabir’s team will complete the domestic double.
