The Argentine star’s red card is cancelled, there is no obstacle in the match. Liverpool’s win over Bournemouth in the Premier League last Saturday (August 19) saw McAllister’s red card come to a screeching halt. Not only the red card, the Argentine midfielder was also banned for three matches as punishment. However, following Liverpool’s application, his red card was cancelled. Along with canceling the card, that ban has also been lifted. Therefore, this World Cup winning midfielder can enter the field in the next match.

In that match of Liverpool-Bournemouth, the Allreds were leading by 2-1. In the 58th minute of the match, McAlastair stepped on the foot of Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie just outside the opponent’s dbox. The referee immediately showed the red card. The referee’s decision surprised the Argentine star. The rest of the Liverpool players also protested the referee’s decision. Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp also protested from the dugout. Still, the referee stands by his decision. The 24-year-old midfielder left the field disappointed.
English legend Gary Lineker took to social media to comment on the decision as ‘shocking’. Klopp also described the referee’s decision as ‘brutal’.

McAllister was also banned for three matches after being shown a straight red card. But Liverpool didn’t stop at just protesting. The Football Association (FA) also appealed the referee’s decision to the Independent Regulatory Commission to overturn the penalty. Following that application, the FA reviewed the referee’s decision and ruled in favor of Liverpool’s application. McAllister’s red card has been rescinded. “An independent regulatory commission has overturned the three-match ban imposed on Alexis McAllister,” the FA said in a statement.
The All Reds are breathing a sigh of relief after the FA’s decision. They are getting this World Cup winning midfielder in important matches. There is no obstacle for McAllister to enter the field against Newcastle United next Sunday (August 27).
