Kohli surpasses Sachin’s world record. Virat Kohli surpassed the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to make the world record for the highest century in ODIs. Indian A batsman has become the owner of 50 centuries in the 50 over version.

Kohli set this record when he went to bat against New Zealand in the semi-final of the World Cup on Wednesday (November 15). On this day, Sachin was present in the gallery of the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Kohli has surpassed the God of Cricket and turned towards him. Sachin also accepted the greeting by clapping his hands. Kohli made 117 runs with 9 fours and 2 sixes in 113 balls to make India a big capital base and left the field as a victim of Tim Southee.
In March 2012, Sachin Tendulkar scored his 49th century in the 451st innings of his ODI career. He held the record of highest century in the 50 over version for the last decade. Kohli shared that record with an unbeaten innings of 101 runs against South Africa in the current World Cup group stage match on November 5.
After 10 days, he surpassed Sachin and single-handedly captured the record. Even though he played 178 innings less than the homegrown legend.

Earlier, Kohli broke the record of highest runs in a single World Cup during the individual 80 runs. He left behind Sachin there too. The God of Cricket held the record for two decades by scoring 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup. Kohli also broke the record of maximum 7 fifties in one tournament. Sachin and Shakib Al Hasan have left behind in this feat.
Meanwhile, another Indian batsman Rohit Sharma is third in the list of highest centuries in ODIs. His number of centuries in 253 innings is 31. Australian legendary batsman Ricky Ponting is fourth in the list with 30 centuries in 365 innings. Legendary Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya at number five owns 28 centuries in 433 innings.
