Holland is UEFA’s best player of the year behind Messi-De Bruyne. Manchester City striker Arling Holland has been chosen as UEFA’s best footballer of the year, beating Lionel Messi and Kevin de Bruyne.
The 23-year-old Norwegian star received the UEFA Footballer of the Year award in Monaco on Thursday (August 31).

Messi and De Bruyne were nominated for the UEFA Footballer of the Year for the 2022–23 season with Holland.
Holland had one of the best seasons of his career when he joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund last season. The European Super Cup went with the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup. In addition to a record 36 goals in the Premier League, he scored 12 goals in the Champions League. In all, 52 goals in 53 matches came from the feet of this striker.
Belgian star De Bruyne also celebrated the title like Holland. The 32-year-old midfielder was instrumental in City’s four trophy wins last season. He scored 7 goals along with 16 assists in the Premier League. And scored 2 goals in the Champions League. In total, he had 9 goals and 19 assists in 45 matches.

On the other hand, Messi won the league trophy and the Super Cup title last season for PSG. In total, he had 21 goals and 16 assists in 41 matches. Holland was finally selected as the best of the three-man race by the jury, coaches and journalists.
Meanwhile, Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati was selected as the best footballer in the women’s category. Apart from this, Man City’s Pep Guardiwala and England’s Sarina Vigman won the best coach awards in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
