Bilbao beat Barcelona in the semis in a thrilling encounter. After the regular time game was tied 2-2, the match went into extra time. Athletic Bilbao didn’t care about Barcelona there. The team reached the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey after winning a thrilling match.
Athletic Bilbao beat Barca 4-2 in the quarter-final match at Bilbao’s San Mamés stadium on Wednesday (January 24) night.

Bilbao went ahead in the first minute of the match in their own field. Barca’s defenders did not get a chance to clear the loose ball in the box. As a result, Bilbao got an easy chance. Spanish forward Gorka hit the target with a right foot half volley.
After handling the initial shock, Barca slowly started to return to the match. Robert Lewandowski scored the equalizing goal in the 26th minute. However, Barca got the help of luck in this goal. A Bilbao defender attempted to clear the box and the ball hit Lewandowski’s outstretched leg and into the net.
Lamin Yamal gave Barca the lead in the 32nd minute. Yamal crossed the line of the box on the right after Jules Kunde’s header, before finding the far post with a left-footed shot from outside the box between three opposition players.

Bilbao equalized after the break. Nico Williams’ cross hit the far post with an unguarded Sunset Head equalizing for Bilbao. If both teams do not score in the regular time, the match goes to extra time.
Bilbao went ahead again late in the opening half of extra time. Inaki Williams entered the box after taking a pass from his teammate. The first time the ball came back, the forward put the ball in the net on the return shot.
After that, Barca could not even try to return to the match. Nico Williams’ goal in stoppage time secured Bilbao victory. Bilbao footballers leave the field with the joy of reaching the semis.
